Kitefoil – French Championship – Leucate – 20-27 October
Friday 27th October 2023. The best kite foilers in France were to be found at Leucate for a week of tough competition at the French Kitefoil Open Championship, a major kitefoil meeting. After a first day of ideal conditions with flat seas and a brisk 13-knot breeze, the pace picked up for the rest of the competition with the final verdict delivered on the last day. Won by Maxime Nocher, the event saw the return of Monegasque kite boarder Alexander Ehlen, a young prodigy who clinched 6th place after 14 races, in nine of which he was in the top five. It bodes well for the Yacht Club de Monaco athlete who has his sights set on qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympics where kitefoil is making its debut as a discipline.
