Optimist – 11th Halloween Cup – Torbole 30th October – 1st November

Wednesday 1st November 2023. Yacht Club de Monaco’s Optimist competition team has been out on the road a lot recently including for the 11th Halloween Cup, an event that tested the skills and further bolstered team spirit among YCM’s young sailors. Six races were completed on Lake Garda by a densely packed fleet of 413 Minimes (13-15yrs) and 80 Benjamins (12-13yrs). In the latter group Jules Juon pulled off a very good 24th place ahead of Louis Pompée 31st whose tactics impressed as evidenced by his three port starts. Pietro Carlevaris and Louis Faivre came in 35th and 61st. In the Minimes, young Alexandra Santelli was not fazed by the 400-plus boats on the course and finished in the top group at 64th, while Facundo Rubinelli came in 148th.
