Sport for Nature Monaco
Tuesday 11th July 2023. Just a few days after the end of the 10th Monaco Energy Boat Challenge, the big alternative energies’ gathering, Yacht Club de Monaco was again honoured for its commitment to the environment and sports policy at the Monaco Sport for Nature Awards.
The association, which harnesses athletes influence to raise awareness of the environmental cause, recognised three distinguished athletes including Daniel Pereira, captain of YCM’s flagship Tuiga; Pierre Frolla, four-time freediving world record holder; and the multi-record-holder for open water swimming, Stève Stievenart. All three received trophies created by Monegasque jeweller Alberto Vitale. “We have here three extraordinary men who have dedicated their lives to the sea, each in a different but no less interesting and commendable way,” said Association President Isidoro Miele.
Convinced that athletes have an exceptional power of communication with younger people, the Association harnesses their influence to combat the common threat of climate change.
