Smeralda 888 – Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda  – Alassio  – 14-16 May

 

Sunday 16th May 2021. The “Band of Brothers” were to be found in Alassio, Italy, this weekend competing in the Trofeo Luigi Carpaneda. It was the second stage in this championship and the first time for the class in Alassio

Six races were completed in conditions varying from 7 to 20 knots for the ten teams taking part. The level and performance consistency was such that the top three boats were only separated by a point. Among those participating was Pietro Sibello, tactician on Luna Rossa, finalist in the last America’s Cup.

Francesco Vauban’s team on Botta Dritta triumphed followed by Class President Charles de Bourbon des Deux-Siciles’ Vamos Mi Amor in 2nd, and Paolo Rotelli’s Black Star in 3rd. All will be back out on the water in June for the third stage with everything to play for in a championship where the level remains as high as ever.
