Tuiga – Régates Napoléon – Ajaccio – 24-29 May 2022

Sunday 22nd May 2022. Yacht Club de Monaco’s flagship Tuiga set sail today for Corsica to line up on the start of the Régates Napoléon in the Gulf of Ajaccio, a gathering of the most beautiful classic and modern sailing yachts in the port of Tino Rossi.

Imperial conditions with thermal breezes and sunshine on an easy to read race area await contestants, with a turnout on a par with the setting. Naval architects behind the popularity and fame of classic yachting today will be represented, designers like Alden, Herreshoff, Mylne and of course William Fife with the presence of the gaff cutter Tuiga who won this event last year. These masterpieces will have all their sails set and flying in the midst of a fleet of modern boats.

Rendezvous Wednesday 25th May at 12 noon when five days of festivities kick off. The crew on Tuiga, most of them committed YCM members, will be extending their stay in Corsica. After a short passage via Corsica’s west coast from Monaco, the 15M IR drops anchor in Calvi, her sights set on winning this regatta again, and this time they are with the Smeralda 888 fleet for the Monaco-Calvi event.
