Optimist – International Summer Cup – Biscarrosse – 17-23 July 2022

 

Saturday 23rd July 2022. Over 350 sailors aged 8-15 from all over France and abroad were out on the water in Biscarrosse for the International Summer Cup (Coupe Internationale d’Eté) a qualifying event for the World Team Championship.

Aggressive, never giving up from start to finish, the new generation of youngsters from YCM’s Sports Section lived up to their promise with a string of well-deserved results starting with Océane Schroeder who ranked 19th out of 127 in the Critérium, winning two races in quick succession. A result that inspired the others as evidenced by the 26th and 36th places for Facundo Rubinelli and Joséphine Dobbelaere. Frederik Holst, Pietro Carlevaris, Jules Huon, Louis Pompée and Lev Valentik gave it their all on their arrival, building on the hard work put in at the start of the year.

In the category above and a superb Gold group, a 13th place for Alexandra Santelli in the Benjamin class, and in the older group (Minime), Ludovica Bonelli came 39th ahead of Loïc Pompée in 69th.
