World Match Racing Tour – Sydney | 13-18 December 18
Sunday 18th December 2022. Recently voted ‘Sailor of the Year’, Jean-Baptiste Bernaz travelled to Sydney in Australia for the finals of the World Match Racing Tour. Crowned ILCA 7 World Champion last May in Mexico, then winning at the World Military in June in Brest and at the Mediterranean Games early July in Oran, he set off for Australia intending to add to an already solid track record.
Given the exceptionally high level of racers in Sydney’s bay the meeting marked a milestone in the calendar for international sailors. Supported by the ‘Monaco, Capital of Advanced Yachting’ project initiated by Yacht Club de Monaco, Jean-Baptiste was accompanied by Jules Bidegaray, Thomas Deplanque and Aymeric Arthaud.
After several days of match races, Jean-Baptiste and his team reached the quarter finals, “We made a lot of progress – we didn’t miss much! No regrets,” says the sailor.
