4-6 September 2020
September got off to a cracking start with a victory for the Monaco J/70 Class Association.
After eight races, Yacht Club de Monaco member Ludovico Fassitelli at the helm of his Junda – Banca del Sempione won in the Corinthian category of the J/70 Italia Cup, first stage of this winter series held in Malcesine in Italy. It was a great result as the Monaco team beat Gianfranco Noè (White Hawk), the 2017 Corinthian World Champion.
Always ready to share his passion for one design racing, Ludovico Fassitelli had taken on board two young members from the YCM’s Sports Section: Franceso Orlando who is studying at the International University of Monaco and Laser racer Alessandro Montefiori, an athlete in the Monaco Sports Academy and in training in the YCM Competition Unit.
Another YCM team competing was the Sailing Race Team led by Loïc Pompée who finished 17th in the final ranking.
Next meetings for the Italia Cup: 25-27 September 2020, at Malcesine again; 25-27 October in San Remo, Liguria; and 13-15 November 2020 for the final stage, again in San Remo.
