Swan One Design World 2022 |  5-9 July 2022

 

Saturday 9th July 2022. Totally in control from start to finish, Cuordileone well deserved the World Champion title. Helmed by Leonardo Ferragamo with Federico Michetti alongside, the two YCM members in the Swan 50 won the day at the end of 10 races in Valencia, Spain.

“To be World Champion is a very emotional moment, and we fought for it right down to the wire. That’s why one design races are so incredible. It’s my first World Championship and I’m delighted,” said Leonardo Ferragamo. A sentiment shared by his spinnaker trimmer Federico Michetti: “It’s an unbelievable feeling to be World Champion. It’s been an extraordinary week with amazing sailing conditions and to finish by winning the title is something unique. I am very proud of the team”.

On the same race area but in the Swan 36 fleet, YCM’s Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio took 4th place at the helm of G-Spot. A result that adds to an already impressive list of achievements, notably in the J/70 class where he will be up there with the best for the World Championship being held for the first time in Monaco 14-22 October 2022.
