RC44 – Cowes – 11-15 August 2021
Sunday 15th August 2021. The 44-foot fleet was in Cowes, England, for the third stage of their circuit with eight teams competing. In breezy conditions, all contestants showed complete mastery from start to finish, particularly during the starts, with many twists and turns, pinpoint manoeuvres and extremely close mark roundings.
Foot of the podium
One point separated Charisma from the podium. Led by YCM’s Nico Poons, the team pulled off some superb results in the windiest races, but not enough to turn the tables in time. With revenge in mind, Nico Poons now has his sights set on winning the upcoming World Championship.
Torbjorn Tornqvist, also from YCM, on Artemis Racing created some good opportunities to nibble away at their rivals to consolidate a lead on several of the 12 races and winning two of them to clinch 7th. Vladimir Prosikhin and his crew on Team Nika were 8th. Next up is the Worlds on 6-10 October in Scarlino, Italy.
