Swan – Nations Trophy – Palma de Mallorca | 14-18 September
Saturday 18th September. A total of 14 countries represented by 29 boats in three classes were in Palma de Mallorca, Spain, to compete in the Nations Trophy. It was the culmination of a thrilling four-meeting season, with Yacht Club de Monaco members out in force alongside Olympic sailors and America’s Cup winners.
A breeze and changeable weather forecasts promised tight races. However, the variable conditions were no problem for Giangiacomo Serena di Lapigio on G-Spot who clinched 2nd in the Swan 36. In the Swan 50, Leonardo Ferragamo (Cuordileone) came 6th.
In the same category, Dmitry Rybolovlev (Sparti) finished 4th, a good result following his superb victory in the Rolex Fastnet race on Skorpios, a ClubSwan 125. Dmitry Rybolovlev was also at the Yacht Club de Monaco on Monday 20th September to present HSH Prince Albert II with the trophy he won in that nearly century-old race.
