ILCA – Lanzarote International Regatta
After an intensive 21 days of training, 18 of which were on the water, Yacht Club de Monaco’s Jérémy Moutout concluded his season’s preparations by lining up on the start of the Lanzarote International Regatta.
With a strong field of six former Olympic sailors, including double Olympic medallist Pavlos Kontides, competition was tough. A total of 11 races in demanding conditions were held over the three days, putting the consistency and flexibility of contestants to the test.
Jérémy pulled of a solid 7th place out of 31, proof of the progress made during his preparations. “As a result of all the hard work, particularly sailing in windy conditions, I am approaching the season with greater confidence and more flexibility in all conditions,” says the athlete.
The regatta is also the first Medal Race of the season, a good indicator of how he has grown to stand up well against the best international sailors. Next up is the 54th Trofeo Princesa Sofia Mallorca in Palma, 26 March to 6 April, where he’s keen to maintain this momentum.
